Richard WHALEY Esq was a member of Parliament for Scarborough during the reign of Edward VI (1547-1553). "He was a Knight of the Shire for the County of Nottingham, and one of the most splendid
sheriffs of that county."
He had three wives and either 19 or 25 children [experts disagree]. There were 5 children by Laura, dau of Thomas Brookman; 13 by Ursula Thwaites; and 7 by Barbara Cope.
